Kenyan trio set for Para fencing World Cup debut

Kenyan trio set for Para fencing World Cup debut

Three Kenyan athletes are set to make history after being selected to compete at the inaugural 2026 World Para Fencing World Cup in Florida, USA.

Ability Sport Kenya named Stella Tiyoy, George Nzioka and Esther Mueni in the national team that will represent Kenya at the global competition set for May 27 to 30 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Speaking before the team departed on Monday evening, national team coach Edwin Muruah praised the athletes for their discipline, hard work and commitment during training.

Muruah said the selected players had shown consistency and determination since the sport was introduced in Kenya. He added that athletes must always be ready to work hard both for personal success and for the country.

Agnes Oluoch, the president of Ability Sport Kenya, said the tournament will give the athletes important international exposure as the country begins preparations for qualification to the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games.

Kenya will be making its first appearance at the World Para Fencing World Cup, which will feature both individual and team competitions under World Para Fencing.
